Are you looking for a resource to introduce your students to Generative AI, its uses, ethical implications and considerations around academic integrity? This online learning experience equips UMN students with the knowledge, skills, and ethical understanding necessary to effectively and responsibly utilize generative AI tools in academic and professional contexts. Learners can receive a certificate of completion, this award can be used to demonstrate Student AI Fluency. This resource was developed by partners in the University Libraries.

This course is a guide for University of Minnesota instructors to navigate the transformative role of Generative AI in education, regardless of whether you plan to embrace these tools or simply wish to better understand their impact on instruction. Through a series of focused lessons, you will develop essential AI literacy by moving from foundational concepts to a critical understanding of ethical considerations—including bias, data privacy, and academic integrity—to hands-on proficiency with UMN-approved Generative AI tools. This resource was developed in collaboration with Academic Technology Support Services, Center for Educational Innovation, AI Hub, CLA’s LATIS and CEHD’s Academic Technology Support Services.
