Mission Statement:

The members of Education and Learning with AI at the University of Minnesota (ELAI@MN) are committed to critically examining and collaboratively strengthening the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. We strive to foster interdisciplinary collaboration across research areas, creating a dynamic environment where educators, students, and researchers can work together to innovate and shape the future of education. This research takes several different approaches including:

  • Investigating AI as a tool in the service of learning
  • Exploring the role of ethics and justice for AI in education
  • Examining the use of AI in curriculum development
  • Developing new AI methods for education
  • Investigating students' and teachers' perspectives on AI
  • Understanding AI in the broader historical context of technologies for learning
  • Exploring what the evolving role of AI in the workplace means for education

By empowering learners and educators with cutting-edge tools and insights, we aim to create an inclusive, forward-thinking educational landscape that prepares individuals for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
