RCC Lunch and Learn: Accessing AI Models through Commercial Cloud Platforms

API-based access to AI models is critical to supporting reproducible, large scale research use cases. Azure Foundry and AWS Bedrock both provide opportunities for secure, University-sanctioned access to models from foundation labs like OpenAI as well as open-weight models like DeepSeek or Kimi. Both of these ecosystems are rapidly evolving and can be a bit perplexing. During this conversation, we’ll explore how to access models in both Foundry and Bedrock, discuss the various abstraction layers available through each cloud provider, and examine some of the other “value add” tools provided in these platforms. We’ll also discuss third-party AI gateways with a look at LiteLLM.
