Gemin-why?: Exploring our New Systemwide Generative Artificial Intelligence
Gemin-why?: Exploring our New Systemwide Generative Artificial Intelligence
Location: Zoom
The University of Minnesota announced the release of Gemini with Enterprise-Grade Data Protection as a supported generative AI platform.
We’ll use this 45-minute casual conversation with peers to discuss our steps in using a UMN-supported, system-wide tool. No Experience Necessary!
We can discuss software features, our strategies for getting up to speed (or taking an off-ramp), and how we’ll approach this technology with peers and colleagues.
- What have you read about Gemini and its comparisons to other technologies and Large Language Models?
- What preparations will you make in your teaching to incorporate or disengage from generative AI in documentation creation?
- Are the capabilities of Gemini within the Google-verse something that you hope will be useful for your core work? Have you made attempts at using Gemini with your Gmail or Google Docs suite?
- Do you have any particular concerns about Gemini (unique to this product, suite, or company)?
- What’s the coolest Gemini feature you have discovered?
- How might a cross-system platform encourage greater collaboration across system campuses?
- Are there concerns that this tool might have negative consequences for our system-ness (or lead to workforce reduction)?
- What would you want your colleagues to know about Gemini?
This presentation will be minimally facilitated by Dan Emery, Writing Across the Curriculum, and Adam Brisk, ITSS Academic Technology, and in association with the AI Community of Practice. The more you talk, the less they will, which is probably best for everyone.
