Held in an informal setting, the event provided an opportunity for attendees to network with colleagues, learn about the university’s various data science resources, and integrate more deeply into the academic community.

Attendees were introduced to a range of initiatives, centers, and services available through DSI, including the Institute for International Institute for Biosensing (IIB), Minnesota Supercomputing Institute (MSI), the College for Science and Engineering Data Science Initiative (CSC DSI), and others. A presentation with detailed slides highlighting these resources was shared to further inform attendees of the many opportunities to get involved in university-wide research initiatives. See presentation here.

Additionally, DSI reminded attendees about the ongoing seed grant program, which offers funding opportunities for faculty members to pursue data-driven research. More information about these grants can be found on the DSI website here.

Faculty members are encouraged to stay engaged by subscribing to the DSI newsletter, where they can receive updates on news, events, and further opportunities within the data science community. The event calendar is another valuable resource for staying informed about upcoming seminars, workshops, and other data science activities hosted by the university.

The DSI team expresses their gratitude for the strong turnout and active participation. Thank you for joining us at the mixer. We look forward to seeing you at future events and continuing to build a thriving data science community at the university.
