Talk Abstract:
Professor Latham will expand on his controversial essay that ran in the Chronicle of Higher Education this past spring entitled “Are We Ready for the AI University?”
More importantly, he will share the insight he has gained from dozens of conversations with faculty, university presidents, think tank analysts, AI entrepreneurs, and administrative leaders across the nation in response to the essay’s publication. Based on these on-going conversations he holds that there are five key considerations that college and university stakeholders must address to capitalize on the tremendous opportunity AI presents to help reinvent the academy.
Brief Speaker Bio(s):
After a successful career in the IT industry, where Professor Latham witnessed the .com disruption firsthand, he earned a PhD in business policy and strategy. His research has focused on organizational decline, innovation, and more recently the future of work. He has been published in the top practitioner and academic journals in his field including MIT Sloan Management Review, Harvard Business Review, the Academy of Management Review, Journal of Management Studies, and the Chronicle of Higher Education.
