Writing Instructors Share their Experiences with Generative AI:  A Panel Discussion with Dr. Lee-Ann Breuch and Writing Studies Graduate Instructors

Join Dr. Lee-Ann Breuch and her research team as they present findings from their 2023 study examining how University of Minnesota undergraduate students incorporate ChatGPT into their academic writing process.

In this webinar, Dr. Breuch's team will:

  • Present key insights from their original research
  • Discuss significant developments in AI writing tools since 2023
  • Share firsthand experiences implementing AI literacy in their writing classrooms
  • Address common challenges instructors face in writing classrooms today

 

Drawing from their dual perspectives as researchers and writing instructors, the presenters will address the challenges and opportunities of teaching writing in the age of generative AI.

About the speaker:

Lee-Ann Kastman Breuch, Ph.D., is Professor in the Department of Writing Studies at the University of Minnesota and Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education in the College of Liberal Arts. Her research investigates rhetoric and digital writing in a variety of settings such as classrooms, professional organizations, and social media. She teaches courses in technical communication, digital writing, usability research, and evaluation of online interfaces. Professor Breuch is a graduate faculty member in the Rhetoric and Scientific and Technical Communication Program and the Human Factors and Ergonomics program at University of Minnesota.

February 2026 – A distinguished delegation from Minnesota, including representatives from the Data Science and AI Hub, the University of Minnesota, state government, and leading private sector businesses, recently concluded a pivotal one-day visit to NVIDIA’s headquarters in San Jose, California.
